It's finally happened, folks!
On last night's episode of Legends of Tomorrow, one of the show's 10 main characters (it's an ensemble show, y'all!) came out as asexual! This is the first openly asexual superhero character on television!
Legends of Representation

Legends of Tomorrow is known for many things, including it's quirkiness, it's changing cast, the one member who never changes (Sara Lance), and it's great representation!
Legends is often praised for it's representation in casting alone. Currently, the ensemble cast is 6 women and 4 men, with 6 of them people of color. Furthermore, Legends has also been hailed for providing positive Muslim representation through the characters of Zari and Behrad and is known for its LGBTQ+ representation. Past lead and minor characters alike have included gay women, gay men, bisexual women, and bisexual men.
Before last night's episode, the show's current leads included a bisexual woman and a lesbian woman, who are also married to each other, a gay man, and a sexually fluid male alien.
Who's this ACE Superhero?
I don't know about you, but as a fan of the show myself, I was MORE than ready for another character to be revealed as not straight! And on last night's episode, it happened!
SPOILERS FOR THE JAN 26TH EP OF LEGENDS OF TOMORROW BELOW

Throughout the episode, we see one of the newer leads of the show, Esperanza "Spooner" Cruz, give looks of discomfort everytime two of the other leads, Astra and Behrad, flirt with each other. At first, I personally thought this might be because Spooner was into Astra. Can you blame a gal for shipping two awesome women together??

I was pleasantly surprised when I was proven wrong! Another lead of the show, Zari Tarazi, sits down with Spooner at one point in the episode and gives Spooner some scenarios of "F*ck, Marry, Kill" to pass the time. Each one includes different members of the Legends. When Spooner says shes not into any of the men, Zari gives her another round with only women members. Spooner says shes not into any of them either, and when Zari asks Spooner who she is into, Spooner says "I don't know, I don't really get those feelings. Must be something the aliens did to me."
"There is NOTHING wrong with you", Zari immediately responds and reassures Spooner. "You might just be ace! Asexual!"

From there on, Zari gives Spooner some more information about asexuality, and with all the information absorbed, Spooner declares, with a sense of relief, "I guess that makes me ace!". Spooner is asexual and there's nothing wrong with that!
More Representation, The Better!
As both a fan of the show and someone in the LGBTQ+ community, this was a HUGE and wonderful moment! Asexuality is hardly ever seen in media and it's about damn time we see it on TV and with superheroes! It only makes it better how authentic, organic, and well-written this moment was- I mean, they actually said the word ASEXUAL! Holy crap! But don't take my word for it, take the word of other fans!

Legends are REAL
Legends of Tomorrow continues to prove that diversity and representation are real and legendary! The writers room, cast, and crew don't need awards like GLAAD to continue to provide some of the best representation not only on television, but in any media. This show is a constant reminder that, as long as we live our most authentic lives as best as possible, we are all LEGENDS!
