Middlewest Mini Review!

What an absolutely fantastic read. I loved The Me You Love In The Dark from earlier in the year by the same team, and I'd heard lots of good things about this so I was very excited to check it out, and it did not disappoint.

There are so many elements here that make it such a beautiful, compelling read that is so rich with emotion and heart. I loved all the characters throughout the story, from the development of Abel and his dynamic with Fox, to all the people they meet along the way.

The art was absolutely gorgeous. It's got a fun animated feel to it, but the faces are so emotive and the backgrounds are so bright and vibrant it equally feels so grounded where it was so easy to really soak in the places traveled in the eponymous Middlewest.

One of my favourite reads not only of last year, but one that firmly takes it's place among some of my favourite books of all time.

Finally, I have to give particular mention to how much I liked the hardcover itself. I love a good deluxe hardcover, so having it all in that gorgeous oversized format where you can really appreciate the art was perfect. After the emotional weight of the finale, the extras in the back really rounded out the whole reading experience. It just added a certain something which I loved. I enjoyed every bit of this, absolutely worth checking out, in this format especially, if you can.
