Moon Knight comes out in a few weeks and as usual Disney and Marvel Studios have sent out an early screening for reviewers and critics. I will say that I was surprised that it was the first four episodes of the series. They usually only send 1 or 2 episodes. The entire season will be six 40–50-minute episodes. The social media embargo also lifted this week, so we wanted to talk about the series so far.
When Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life, he discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.
You may not be surprised when I say that it is not like most of the Marvel content we have gotten so far. I know most hardcore MCU fanboys and girls say that anytime we get any bit of new Marvel media. Although with this series I feel like we all expected it to be something knew. Straight out of the gate we get a feel for the supernatural and I immediately get hopeful for projects down the pipeline.

It is also no surprise that Oscar Isaac is amazing as Moon Knight. I love just about everything he's in. (Except for you X-Men: X-Men: Apocalypse) Oscar Isaac playing opposite Oscar Isaac is everything I could have hoped for. Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy were also so great in this new series. Ethan Hawke really surprised the hell out of me. I will admit I was never a huge fan of his but now I want to go back and check out more of the movies in his catalogue.

One of the biggest ongoing themes in the MCU right now is how everything connects and influences the next thing. Everything working together to spit out "the next big event". Moon Knight does an excellent job at carving out its own corner of the MCU. I won't say that it isn't connecting to anything, but it definitely doesn't get boxed in by any subtle hints of the other shows or movies. With that being said, I cannot help but wonder and speculate on how this show really fits into the future and what other characters will stem from it.

Like with most of these early reviews you will not get any massive reveals here. We will however be breaking down every episode over on our Patreon. I know Patreon is a paid membership platform, but every little bit helps us keep the lights on. The first four review episodes will also be available to everyone. You can subscribe to our Patreon with joining any of the EXTREMELY AFFORDABLE paid tiers. To keep this review from turning into a full-on self-promotion ad I want to share what some of our friends on Twitter have been saying about the upcoming series.
Moon Knight will be streaming exclusively on Disney Plus from March 30, 2022.
