Dark Horse Comics
Writer: David M. Booher
Artist: Claudia Balboni
Colorist: Harry Saxon
Letterer: Lucas Gattoni
This line has been the greatest joy to read! We need more comics made by ALL LGBTQ+ Creatives! Killer Queens is a hilarious, action-packed romp that is just my cup of tea. Not every LGBTQ+ story needs to be a critically acclaimed grand novel or dramatic film. We like fun, goofy stuff too! We like stories with a ton of heart to them! Killer Queens is that and so much more. I’m hearing through the grapevine that we can hope to see more in the future- fingers crossed!

Boom! Studios
Writer: James Tynion IV and Tate Brombal
Art: Chris Shehan
Colorist: Miquel Muerto
Letterer: Andworld Design
There’s something about this world that just hits different each time. Even when an issue feels slower, the next issue always has a comeback. This world that Tynion has created is hypnotizing in the best way possible, and Chris Shehan’s art finalizes that hypnosis. I can’t break free and I don’t want to! I LOVED Chris Shehan’s work with The Autumnal; it’s perfectly fitting that he came onto this line. This series has the dark yearning undertones of an unrequited or forbidden love, with all the other horrors of life added onto it. It may sound like it shouldn’t work, but it does- it’s utterly masterful! Every time I think “maybe I’ll cut this from my pull list”, they make a killer issue like this.

DC Comics
Writer: Stephanie Phillips
Artist: Riley Rossmo
Colorist: Ivan Plascencia
Letterist: Deron Bennett
This Harley Quinn run is right up there with Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner’s run with how great it is! Though they still write her very differently in both runs, both runs perfectly capture Harley’s essence. Her essence is so dynamic and varying, as long as you hone in on the focus you choose well, you’ve got it! I will never get tired of Phillips’ approach with her; Phillips really hones in on Harley’s PhD side, which most other writers have done less. She does that while still balancing Harley’s goofy, ridiculous, baseball-bat-swinging, sappy side. The art style of this run took me a while to get used to, but I can’t get enough of it now! It’s ALLL Harley baby!

Aftershock Comics
Writer: Ed Brisson
Art: Damian Couceiro
Colorist: Patricio Delpeche
Letterer: Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou
If this was under your radar- I’m putting it on your radar now! Oh my gosh, this series is refreshing! If you’re a fan of Something Is Killing The Children, Stranger Things, anything like that- you’ll love this line! It is a bit less horror and more fantasy, but the monsters are terrifying enough that horror is there for me. Throw in heart-wrenching family vibes and all kinds of new creatures you’ve never seen before, this has it ALL for me. The humor is great, the main character is all too relatable, and the world-building? Completely new! I adore this line and truly hope Aftershock continues to publish more of this series. Where’s the announcement, Aftershock? I’m waiting! I need more of Turtle!

Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Gleb Melnikov and Max Dunbar
Colorist: Hi-Fi
Letterer: Troy Peteri
If you haven't been reading this series you really should, it's been so much fun! This was an awesome action-packed issue, with some nice character moments, for Damian and in general. I liked the way it wrapped up the tournament and teased the aftermath and purpose behind it. Great art, great characters, great ideas, and story definitely worth checking out!

Marvel Comics
Writer: Donny Cates
Artist: Ryan Ottley
Colorist: Frank Martin
Letterer: Cory Petit
One of the wildest and most "Donny Cates" things he's ever written, and that's really saying something. It had one of those "I know comics are ridiculous sometimes but this is utterly wild" vibes. I mean I thought it was epic, but it was my first Hulk book so I didn't have the comparison to Immortal Hulk like some people do. So, I can definitely see where some people are coming from, but personally I'm interested to see where this goes!
I adore Ottley's art style so I was very excited to see him on a new monthly title and Hulk no less, and especially with Martin's awesome colours it was as spectacular as I'd hoped. In the months leading up to this I wasn't sure if I was going to get it, but I wanted to at least try out the first issue and I'm glad I did. Very intrigued to see where this goes!

And they were roommates…
I mean, they were at first. But seriously, I loved seeing the development of Jace and Aaron's dynamic in their early days, with Jace fresh to the House of Slaughter and Aaron trying to reach out to him. I thought it nicely started to develop Jace as a character, culminating in a very sweet moment at the end of the issue that was just so wholesome to see. The artwork was awesome as always, this is shaping up to be a great interlude before the main series returns that's an entertaining read every month it comes out!

Image Comics
Writer: Kyle Higgins
Artist: Marcelo Costa
Colorist: Igor Monti
Letterer: Becca Carey
Man, what do I say about this issue that I haven't already said elsewhere? A gloriously spectacular issue that's just artistically stunning, and one that immediately and proudly takes its place amongst favourite single issues ever. The cosmic scope, the plot threads coming together, the characters, the heart, the emotion, just everything absolutely loved it, incredibly well deserved of the #1 spot this week.
