FINALLY, the pieces of this event are coming together, and honestly?? It’s very satisfying! I say it like that because, all too often, events from the big 2 ramp up so well, but then begin the wrapping up and concluding terribly. Trial of The Amazons does NOT suffer that same fate. We start to see the murder mystery wrap up (but not completely, leaving room for another story recently solicited ;D) and the final battle of this event begin. I’ve said this event is one of the best I’ve read in years, but I’ll go a step further and say this is one of the best events I’ve EVER read. A MUST READ!
#3: Corollary

Corollary is one of the most entertaining, thought-provoking, AND beautifully illustrated sci-fi comics I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
"In Corollary, everything comes in twos, even the people, and if your twin dies — so do you. This is the way it’s always been, so when Captain Andromeda’s twin loses her life in a far-off military battle, and Captain Andromeda herself DOES NOT die, the universe demands answers."
I mean, who wouldn’t want to give this a shot after that really great synopsis?? One of my favorite things about this is that artist Robert Ahmad watercolor-painted this book!! What?!? My goodness, it sparkles in a way that it only can in this style, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that Sourcepoint Press picked this one up!

This series is the biggest hug to fans that adore Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Robin, and the Doom Patrol to their core roots. Somehow, this creative team has managed to write a story set back in the day, modernize it, and make it a blast for new and old fans alike to enjoy. I love modern Superman/Batman stuff, but I also really miss their older stuff sometimes, and this really is the best of both worlds. As a huge Supergirl fan, I really appreciate how they’ve written AND drawn her in this series. Kara Zor-El is coming BACK to the front of the line and I am more than ready for her!!! Overall, I recommend this series to anyone, but especially the biggest DC fans out there. This one is for you all!!

If the first issue of Slumber got me interested, this second issue got me fully hooked! This series is the perfect mix of wacky and creepy, fantastical and yet relatable! I absolutely adore how all the characters are so flawed, but I can’t help but root for them all. The art work is brilliant; between looking like an adult cartoon put onto paper with great linework and magical colors, I can’t get enough of it! Everyone, including the giant bug people (don’t worry about it) are so expressive in the eyes. The eyes are the windows to the soul and, in this series’ case, to our slumber as well, and all the creators fully embrace that in this book. Listen, tihs book blew me away the most this week and that alone should be enough for y’all to go get it!! Go go go!!

Joe’s Picks

This issue was just so much fun! That's the one thing that's been so great about this run so far, is the way Adams has been able to balance the epic superhero action, with the more down to Earth, human moments these characters have.
I'm a sucker for that sort of thing in my comic books, I just love how much it humanises the characters, makes them feel that much more real and relatable.
Solid art, great story and interaction between Wally and Wallace, great issue!

There's just something about this series that's so compelling but at the same time so utterly and existentially crushing. The way in every single issue more or less, the balance between absurdity, and telling a story with a very real message and very real ideas behind it, never fails to make an impact.
As always that's heavily contributed to by the art team. From Morazzo's crisp line work, to O'Halloran's almost scratchy coloring, which I'm enjoying getting even more experience with over on Rain also from Image being published at the moment which you should definitely check out if you haven't already, it just never fails to feel like fresh and original comic book storytelling.
Overall another very well done issue. A reminder that due to it's anthology nature you can jump on at any point, I started reading at #25 and I would recommend it if you're interested and not reading it already!

What can I say about this series that I haven't already said. From the moment I first heard about it, was intrigued by the cover and loved the sound of the solicit for #1, I knew it was going to be for me. This has become not only one of my favourite series of the year so far, but just ever.
A look at love, heartbreak, romance, relationships, ourselves, choices. This series takes the idea of "if I did this, would things be different. If I did that, would things have worked out?" and runs with it, taking it literally for such a compelling and fascinating story.
I don't think it'll be controversial for me to say that Marvel and DC are already burning lots of people out on the idea of the multiverse these days. But to me that's what makes this story all the more interesting and well done. Not using it as the gimmicky plot device lots of people understandably see it as, but as a real look at all those themes and ideas I mentioned.
The story is emotionally raw, heartbreakingly real, the art and colors by Vecchio just continue to be absolutely spectacular. Even in the talking scenes (which there are a lot of in this issue) everything from the backgrounds, the characters and more are so smooth, vibrant, animated and just honestly glorious to look at.
You need to check out this series if you haven't already!

I've adored this series. This third arc has been nothing but non-stop action as we race towards the conclusion of this whole thing, and I've loved every second of it. I've loved every second of this whole series.
One more issue left and it's naturally going to be a bittersweet one, but I can not wait to see how it all wraps up, and where it leaves our characters we've grown to love over the past 14 issues at the end of it.
It's been a fun, wild, spectacular, vibrant, amazing, emotional, heartfelt, insane, action packed, glorious ride of a comic book, and one you absolutely need to check out if you haven't already! A nice hardcover of the whole thing would be absolutely perfect, but we'll see what happens.
The final performance of the Home Sick Pilots is coming very soon, if you've been reading and loving this as much as I have, don't miss out, hopefully it's going to be a great finale!
